RB Kitaj : Excerpt from ‘The First Diasporist Manifesto.’

Filed under: Magic, Maps, Sex — poethead @ 1:05 pm
"Symrna Greek (Nikos)" 1976-1977. RB Kitaj.

I have mentioned before the work of RB Kitaj both as a writer in his Manifesto
and as an Artist whose work The Death of Rosa Luxemburg profoundly
effected both my interest in Art and my political view. Indeed I had stated that I
would excerpt his short piece on Diaspora some time ago.

[First Diasporist Manifesto, RB Kitaj: Thames And Hudson 1989]

The Almond Tree

“I always keep a picture, tacked to my wall, of the gorgeous little painting
of The Almond Tree which Bonnard was working at on his last day,
to remind me of another fate, a more sublime and fixed one than that of Jews or that
of my own particular Diasporism, where pinting marks on canvas may spell
peripatetic danger instead of peace in the sun. In fact, I return this day to a tiny picture
of a False messiah I thought I’d finished, taking up Bonnard’s little tree to infuse my messiah
with hopeful white paint, befitting the End of Days, prolonging its poor prospects and
smothering the negative constraints of Diaspora for a moment; these negative aspects by
the way, which in traditional interpretations are due to be resolved in the messianic end of time.
I just came a cross a Biblical Allusion to the flowering Almond interpreted as the white head of an
old man….so my poor Messiah can be aged and maybe even something more false.”

From the Maria Llopis Website

From the Maria Llopis Website

Maria llopis has been working a while in Film, Philosophy, Art and Porn. One of
her projectswas the Girlswholikeporno site, which I must admit wasn’t really
My cup of T.

A lovely friend sent me the original link and when I went in there to have a look, I
saw the projecthad ended and Maria had gone out on her own. Her new site is excellent
and bi-lingual in places, which helps those (me) who are often linguistically challenged.
I was responding to a disagreement on a huge European website which cost billions and
had broken down, by pointing out that European Porn (by Women, for Everyone) is both a
good thing and need not cost millions of Euros. So take a look at the site.
I have only checked out some of it and culled this image from it, which is truly beautiful.

I am including a link into maria llopis site on the sidebar on the right hand side.
Thus, this would be adult content for readers of the bloggie. I am assuming most
visitors to the bloggie are adult anyway.

On not being able to say Cunt

Green Veggie Monster, by Frances Castle

Green Veggie Monster, by Frances Castle

I always imagined the context of the offending word would be prone to the ideology
of the censorius;but computers are thick when it comes to word recognition.

Discussing the censorship of derogatory language on an irish political website: it
appears that certain words are admissable but others are not- and I don’t remember
switching a language filter adaption onto my control panel page.

So I decided to put cunt up here, cos it’s not really a derogatory term,
in fact mostly it can be used in positive ways.. reminds me of the first censorship
I experienced on the Irish Indymedia site for terms surrounding our infamous sex laws
(2006) and the usage of such terms as fellatio in the hallowed corridors of irish power.

There seems to be an approach to language which veers wholly between either
downright derogatory or a simplistic abhorrence of anything other than basic
descriptive terms that are fenced in by the PC brigade.

I mean the context is more imperative than the issue of how it is translated by
the unhumourous bloodless types who seem to tip toe thru the tulips when it comes
across a word that jars sensibilites. How fecking important is political correctness
and humourlessness in relation to environmental destruction and distance from learning,
that seems to infect the loudest idiots who hold the editorial delete buttons and thus
what is dripped to people who are reading?
